Ashtin Barker

This June, I have the opportunity to cover the FIFA World Cup as a photographer for the Associated Press in Mexico. While in undergrad, I was the Editor-in-Chief of InfUSion Magazine, the first and only multicultural publication at UGA. Prior to that, I was the creative director for two years and I expanded my media portfolio with photos, graphics and layouts that I made for the magazine.

In addition to being the creative services manager for The Red & Black, I’m also a reporter and photojournalist. I’ve written stories for both print and digital including features, event coverage, explainers and reviews. During the 2024 Election, and after a long day covering polling stations, I photographed an Athens-Clarke County district attorney election watch party for The Red & Black. My work was published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In my free time, you can find me visiting local restaurants with friends, hiking or exploring new places with my camera. I’m thrilled to begin working in the mass communication industry while continuing to tell stories I’m passionate about.
